What courses does Texas Laser Institute offer?
We offer laser hair removal certification courses, laser and light based device training, and continuing education for aesthetic professionals. Visit the Courses page for the current schedule and course descriptions.
Are your courses online, in person, or both?
Most of our courses are hybrid. The lecture portion is completed online at your own pace, and the hands on portion is completed in person at our facility. Some continuing education courses are fully online.
Do I need to be an esthetician or have a medical background to enroll?
No. Our laser hair removal courses are open to anyone 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. Some advanced courses may have prerequisites, which are listed on the course page.
How do I register for a course?
Log in to your account, select the course you want, choose a date, and complete payment. You will receive a confirmation email with your course details and any pre class materials.
What should I bring to the in person portion of my class?
Just yourself, dressed comfortably, with closed toe shoes. We provide everything else, including all course materials, protective eyewear, snacks, and refreshments.
Will I receive a certificate when I finish?
Yes. Once you complete all course requirements you will receive a certificate of completion, available for download from your account. Certificates are issued in the name on your account exactly as entered at registration.

What are your hours?
Our office is open Monday - Friday, from 9:00 - 5:00. Weekend classes run on scheduled dates listed on the Courses page. You can reach us by phone at 832-767-0977 or through the Contact page.
Is Texas Laser Institute a licensed school?
Yes. Texas Laser Institute is a career school and college licensed and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission.
What is the Association of Laser Professionals?
The Association of Laser Professionals was founded by TLI in 2011 as the first Texas based certifying entity for laser hair removal professionals. Members gain access to course materials, continuing education, professional resources, and our job board.
Do you offer job placement assistance?
We do not guarantee employment, but members have access to our online job board where Texas med spas and clinics post open positions. Our staff is also happy to review your resume and offer guidance.

How do I create an account?
Click Login at the top of the page, then select Sign Up. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your state issued ID, along with your email address and a phone number. You'll receive an email in real time with your log-in credentials.
Why does my name need to match my ID?
Your account name is printed on your certificates, and state agencies will not accept a certificate if the name does not match your government issued ID. Please check spelling carefully before submitting.
I made a mistake in my name. How do I fix it?
Name changes require a manual review. Contact us through the Contact page with your account email and a photo of your ID showing the correct spelling, and our staff will update your account.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Click Forgot Password on the login page and enter your email address. You will receive a link to reset your password. If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
How do I update my email address or contact information?
Log in and go to your account settings, where you can update your phone number, and mailing address at any time. Name and e-mail changes are handled separately and require a review.
Where can I find my certificates and course history?
Log in and open your account dashboard. Your completed courses, certificates, and continuing education records are all available there for download.

What is a model and why do you need them?
Models are volunteers who receive complimentary or reduced cost treatments performed by students under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor. This gives students hands on practice with real clients.
How do I sign up to be a model?
Visit the Models page and complete the sign up form. Our staff will contact you to confirm your eligibility and schedule you for an upcoming class date as needed.
Is there a cost to be a model?
Treatments performed during student training are provided at no cost or at a significantly reduced rate depending on the service. Any applicable fee will be confirmed before your appointment.
Are model treatments safe?
Yes. All treatments are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor, and every model completes a consultation and screening before any service is provided. Like all aesthetic treatments, risks of complications are always present and no
Who is eligible to be a model?
Models must be 18 or older and complete a health screening. Certain conditions, medications, or recent sun exposure may make you ineligible for a particular treatment. Our staff will review this with you upon scheduling.
How long will my appointment take?
Plan for one to two hours. Student appointments take longer than a standard treatment because instructors are teaching throughout the session.

Do I need a license to perform laser hair removal in Texas?
Yes. Texas requires laser hair removal technicians to hold a certificate issued by the state. Certification levels progress from Apprentice in Training to Technician, Senior Technician, and Professional. Our courses are designed to meet the state training
Which state agency regulates laser hair removal in Texas?
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) oversees laser hair removal certification and facility registration in Texas. TLI is a state recognized certifying entity for the Professional level exam.
What do I need to become a Certified Laser Hair Removal Professional?

Does TLI administer the Professional exam?

How do I renew my Professional certification?
Existing Professionals can renew online through their account. Log in, select the renewal option, complete any required continuing education, and submit payment.
Do your courses count toward continuing education?
Many of our courses qualify as continuing education for laser hair removal professionals and other licensed aesthetic providers. Each course page indicates whether CE credit is available and for which license types.
